There are several sets of rules that are used in the discipline system. The text of these rules can be found on this website. The Office of the Revisor of Statutes also publishes the professional responsibility rules as part of the Court Rules, which can be found here

These are the ethics rules adopted by the Minnesota Supreme Court that govern the professional conduct of lawyers. They are the rules that provide a basis for discipline if there is clear and convincing evidence that a lawyer violated a rule. Minnesota’s Professional Conduct rules are similar to but in many ways different than the American Bar Association Model Rules of Professional Conduct and may also be different from the professional conduct rules of other states.

This Appendix provides detailed information regarding trust account requirements and is adopted pursuant to Rule 1.15(h), Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct.

The Minnesota Supreme Court has adopted the Rules on Lawyers Professional Responsibility to govern the lawyer discipline system. These are the procedural rules that address how complaints are handled, and discipline is decided.

The Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board from time-to-time issues opinions on professional conduct. Board opinions may serve as rule interpretations that guide attorneys' professional conduct.

The Minnesota Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board (LPRB) has prepared these Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to assist individuals appearing before an LPRB Panel. This FAQ does not replace the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct (MRPC) or the Rules on Lawyers Professional Responsibility (RLPR) which respectively govern Panel proceedings substantively and procedurally.
